There are three official ways to get an HSC result, and one of them changed this year in a way that will waste a lot of people’s money if they do not notice.
1. By SMS — and the number is new
The short code has moved from 16222, used in previous years, to 16140. A message sent to the old number will not return your result.
The format is: HSC, a space, the first three letters of your board, a space, your roll number, a space, the year.
For example: HSC Dha 123456 2026 sent to 16140.
It works from any mobile number on any operator. The board abbreviations are the usual ones — Dha for Dhaka, Chi for Chattogram, Raj for Rajshahi, Jes for Jashore, Com for Cumilla, Syl for Sylhet, Bar for Barishal, Din for Dinajpur, Mym for Mymensingh, Mad for Madrasah, Tec for Technical.

2. Online
Results are available through the education boards’ common results portal and through each board’s own website. Enter your examination name, year, board, roll and registration number.
Expect both to be slow for the first few hours. Every candidate in the country is loading the same pages in the same window, and a results portal is sized for an ordinary day rather than for this one. If a page times out, that is queueing rather than a wrong address — wait and retry rather than hunting for an alternative site, because the sites that appear in search results on result day are frequently not the boards’.
3. From your college
Institutions download the full result sheet themselves, using the result corner of the board site and their EIIN — the institution identification number. This is the route that does not depend on your own connection working, and on a bad network day it is the fastest one.
Two things that are not true
No result is available at the Ministry of Education, at a board office, or at a newspaper office. The inter-board committee has said so explicitly. Anyone offering to look one up for you in person is not doing what they say they are.
And no third-party app or Facebook page has results the boards do not. If a site asks for a payment, a login or an OTP to show your result, close it — the three channels above are free and need nothing but your roll number.
If you want the result reviewed
Applications for re-examination of answer scripts are taken online only, from 1 to 7 November. The process and the fee are set by the boards, and the window is short.
If the websites will not load
They will be slow, and the useful responses are not obvious.
Use SMS instead. It does not share the web servers’ load and it is the channel that keeps working when the portals do not.
Wait rather than refresh repeatedly. Hammering reload adds to the queue you are standing in. One attempt every few minutes gets through sooner than ten a minute.
Try outside the peak. The crush is in the first two or three hours. By evening the portals are usually fine, and the result does not expire.
Ask your college. It holds the full downloaded sheet and does not depend on your connection at all.
Keep a copy
Take a screenshot of the result page or the SMS as soon as you have it. You will need the figures for admission forms over the following weeks, and the portals are busiest exactly when you want to look something up again.
